They still believe they have the power to make or break a Filipino artist. I'm sorry to say but in this day and age, the traditional media does not have that much power anymore and soon their so called influence will be less and less significant. As the second largest music market in the world, the Japanese are noted for recognizing true talent and their excellent treatment and respect for these great artists. Charice recent mini concert validates their professional acumen in all respect. They are so in awe with her that one major media announcer described Charice…”so very talented that it is scary”. The Japanese literally acclaimed Charice as the top Asian singer in this generation that has the potential to challenge the West dominance in music. And putting their money where their mouths is, Japan has begun promoting her as one of their own, rolling out the carpets and bombarding the media with continuous coverage for her. And where Japan goes with Charice, so do all of Asia. Reply to this

She did great with this song. So much better than Miley Cyrus. Her English is getting better & better everyday, but still needs work. Keep using English Charice and also hang around with people who will speak English to you. Learn what your audience love and try not to act childish. Act your age, which you do most of the time, but you sometimes act too much of a kid. Remember that American teenagers don't like to act like kids, they want to grow up. As for the vid with you singing in Filipino, no need to single out the your own kind again. It is starting to become unnecessary. You're international now. If you keep prioritizing your Filipino fans, the rest of the world will feel 'second best'. So just please all of your fans. No need to sing a Filipino song. I found it unnecessary, and I'm pretty sure your fans that cheered during that Filipino song, were only Filipinos. It's like an American (Caucasian) going crazy for a Spanish song they don't even understand. Simply, they don't understand nor care for it. Promote yourself, not your country. Once you're truly famous, people will be curious to see more Filipino talent, but right now, you're still new. You need to be marketable first before you can market your country. And to top it off, a Manny Pacquiao song?! Really? Lol. In all honesty, you did great. You pleased the crowd, but just disappointed at how you singled out your own kind again. Though they might have appreciated it, just wasn't right during that event. Do that during your Filipino events, but not your international career. You're only pleasing a few hundreds, while you're leaving the other thousands who watched, to think "What's she singing? What's she saying?" I realize you're proud of where you come from, but to win over the US, you don't need to keep being nationalistic. Just be an artist. Good luck to you, young lady. You have a lot of work ahead of you. There are many people who believe in you, idolize you, worship you, and most importantly, respect you. With every successful appearance, you'll gain more and more of those people. Reply to this

I've always heard about crab mentality, being a Filipino myself, but this David Archuleta duet with Charice really paints a concrete picture of what Pinoy crab mentality is.
I don't know why, but it is ONLY the Filipino DA fans who hate Charice. Other nationalities seem to be happy about the duet or are neutral. And rest assured, if someone points out that other nationalities hate Charice too, it's because those Pinoy crabs influenced them to hate her. I almost feel ashamed to be a Filipino if Pinoys act this way and I feel like apologizing to @DavidArchie in behalf of my uncivilized kababayans who don't know any better.
I've seen some of the Pinoy DA crabs' comments about Charice and I can't help rolling my eyes at their shallowness and immaturity such as:
- "david is mine.. i mean ours.. just dont charice dare to touch david or i will choke her 2 death" - "i dont like when david admires her.. i fell like david likes her.. and i dont want that to happen ever!" - "im really insecure right now.. DAVID A. is recording with Charice pempengco on his christmas album" - when asked why this girl hates Charice, she answered: "because she's a feeler! i don't like her, that's all!" - "why we hate her mOre... Coz she's On Archie's sOng.. huhu lol" - And after a series of Charice hate comments, one user said: "I knOw we're mean.. bUt we are having fun.. haha"
I mean, HELLO?? These are REAL, copy-pasted word-for-word sentiments from Pinoy Archie fans. Who can take these IMMATURE KIDS seriously?!? It's not worth wasting our time trying to get them see the other side of the coin. We'd have to wait for them to grow up first, and hopefully with age comes maturity.
I've learned to pretty much ignore them. They're angsty, young, immature kiddies/teens. I used to be one myself. I'm glad I grew out of that phase! Let them have fun being mean if for them that's what "fun" means. That last comment alone shows the mentality these people have. Not worth getting worked up over a bunch of CHILDREN now, is it? I drove to Lake Tahoe from San Francisco mainly to watch Charice perform live for the first time; i was excited and all my Facebook friends know my excitement from all my status updates that weekend. I paid top dollars for my tickets. I am greatly disappointed of how she was treated that evening by Willie Revillame. Not only did he cut her short of her time to perform, but he put her in a sticky situation where she didn't know what to do; poor girl. When Charice asked Willie what to sing, since everything is going to be in a hurry, Willie said something like, oh just sing any Whitney Houston song but just make it quick, because we're out of time. That was so tacky. For the show to even start 45 mins late and have Charice be cut off was not acceptable; not to me. Plus having Willie give too much extra time to those contestants to be interviewed (some even with videos from back home) and have him sing so many numbers was not something i came to see driving over 200 miles. Very unprofessional also for Willie to cut off Anne Curtis in the middle of her dance/song performing Lady Gaga's Just Dance. Everything was so disappointing for me. I am always proud to see my fellow kababayan perform and be successful here in America, but knowing that our "pinoy time" system still exists saddens me. I like you Willie because you do so much "kawang gawa" for the poors, but you really need to be more tactful and professional in the way you act and make remorseful remarks. Everyone is watching you! what a challenging life the singer had hile growing up. i grew up in the philippines, too, but had a much better life a hundred times. reading her bio made me realize how lucky i was. her voice is better than most of the top ten finalists in american idol which me and wife is always watching. the singer has a good singing style comparable to professional ones, also very charming, very lady-like, and with honesty emitting in her mannerisms and personality. a real pearl, which is her name, a real gem to her family. lucky husband! in all the songs she sang in the vedio, i liked the two 2008 songs because they were recorded professionally with excellent production.
in as much as most young singers and younger generation nowadays liked to sing and hear R&B, i recommend that pearl should also try singing soft or easy-listening R&B songs. personally, i wish that all pearl's dreams in life will come true. i wish her to be appreciated as a good singer - because she is really a good singer. Boy, I know you are trying to be fair and don’t want to take sides and I could see that you are trying to save Freddie's face here, unfortunately, it is very evident that it’s not what he really meant, for if it was, he shouldn’t be reacting this way as if Charice has committed a disgrace to her country. I am sorry to say Ka Freddie, but you are so way out of line on this issue. It’s too obvious that you now just singled out Charice to put her down. Ka Freddie, long before you came out with this nonsense, Charice has been trying to negotiate with David Foster to include tagalog songs on her first int’l album. One’s Patriotism can be shown in so many different wasy not by just singing OPM. I have been following Charice since I first saw her in Ellen’s show and I know the first time she stepped into and performed in front of the American Audience, she has been a proud Pinay ever since; she’s been waving the Filipino flag every time she performs abroad to the extent that she’s been criticized by her non-filipino fans that she’s always acknowledging her Filipino audience and her non-filipino fans are being left out. I suggest that you, Freddie Aguilar, do your research first before opening your big mouth and cut this crap off as you already have made a huge laughing stock out of yourself among your peers and the whole Filipino music industry! With her first few beautiful and mellow notes that are on par with Celine's, she puts them on notice that she is something else, not that sweet, softspoken young lady who just admitted to being nervous before the song began. The initial reaction is "how can such a voice come out of that body?", but they ain't seen nuthin' yet ...
- then she sneaks up on them as the song builds momentum, then she lets out this Mariah-Carey-like crescendo, just to give them a hint about what she can do. This brings down the house, and all this she does without breaking a sweat
- then Celine says "go girl!" and she belts out this soul-stirring aria, and people are cheering this young girl on as she sings her heart out
when the song ends, she is back to her shy sweet self. Reply to this

To Philippines media, they should set the Rules and Requirements to become a press, this is so embarrassing, this is a wake up call. Sometimes we need to get out from the forest to see the trees if you know i mean. Charice is working hard to get where she is right now, so let's respect that.

These whiners in the Philippines media think that their pen is still mightier than the sword. They still think they can easily cause people to change their opinions about Charice and that they have power to truly move the needle when they write. They still believe they have the power to make or break a Filipino artist. I'm sorry to say but in this day and age, the traditional media does not have that much power anymore and soon their so called influence will be less and less significant. Instead they will just receive an award just like this http://crabbyawards.blogspot.com/.

Oh Charice, I have seen your concert 4 times and met you 3 times, but this performance you have at this moment for Beyonce's song is one of your best. I think you can sing Beyonce's song much better compare to all other singers or performers.
Keep it up Charice and may you have the best upcoming all holidays and your Mother the happy one. Cheers for more songs and exceptional performances for the coming days to come, how about the 2011? Happy holidays to you and your family.

It seems odd to see the cast of Glee looking like adults and not teenagers in High School. I learned the youngest will be Charice who just turned 18, the actual age for Seniors. The rests are over aged and should be in College, unless they all repeaters. Also, usually the word exchange students are meant for colleges and seldom for high school.

Reply to this
It's appalling that Filipino themselves are the haters. I believe those are few ones who have their own favourites and now that Charice is above and over their favourite artists, then those few ones are so jealous that Charice has become so international and famous. Charice is an exceptionally talented girl and there is no other way to go, but up and up. And regarding the duet with David, I am all for it. In fact I can't wait for the album.

- "david is mine.. i mean ours.. just dont charice dare to touch david or i will choke her 2 death"
- "i dont like when david admires her.. i fell like david likes her.. and i dont want that to happen ever!"
- "im really insecure right now.. DAVID A. is recording with Charice pempengco on his christmas album"
- when asked why this girl hates Charice, she answered: "because she's a feeler! i don't like her, that's all!"
- "why we hate her mOre... Coz she's On Archie's sOng.. huhu
- And after a series of Charice hate comments, one user said: "I knOw we're mean.. bUt we are having fun..

First of all, PLURK? Is that even credible? Twitter...another rumor mill. Unless I hear it from Charice OR Team Charice themselves, then I won't believe it. THEY are the ones solely responsibe for this album and NOBODY ELSE. Rumors are rumors. On Amazon.com, it still says NEW RELEASE (2009). Well, if it IS true, then Team Charice hasn't released that date to anybody else yet. AND, JANUARY?! You gotta be kidding me. Everybody's broke by that time from Christmas shopping and WHAT special occasion is even around that time? January is a bad move, but if that IS true, then so be it. I really hope it's not though. I'm rooting for OCTOBER 2009, or NOVEMBER 2009. Perfect excuse to give her album as a gift. C'mon TEAM CHARICE....THINK! January is a death sentence for album releases. WHO HAS MONEY IN JANUARY?!
Reply to this
I was hoping for Charice's album to come out this year as well. I know 3 American Idol Alumni are set to release their album and hitting shelves in November and 2 more are possibilities. So that brings 5 albums altogether plus David Archuleta is releasing a Christmas album in October so it's going to be a competitive album for Charice in terms of sales. I am eagerly waiting for Charice's album and the waiting is killing me.. LOL

Willie Revillame should have been banned from having a show here in the US especially now that he has been suspended in the Philippines by the MTRCB and KBP for his rudeness and unprofessionalism. What he did to Charise is a big insult especially to the fans who bought tickets just to watch Charise and not Willie and his low-life show.

CAN WE PLEASE ACT NOW!!!! Lets all send messages to DF or her management and tell them we dont want Charice to be associated with this show. People against Willie have voiced their opinions before that led to his suspension. If abs-cbn wont let him go we can make him stay away from Charice. So go people, send out your opinions to the right people who know what theyre doing. Remember the petition to oust willie...we can do the same. Our concern will be heard if theres a lot of us behind it.

Yes, I agree with Antnoy, we have to ACT NOW to stop this guy (Willie) for being so rude and dictator. Actually, if all TFC will voiced their disappointments to ABS-CBN and let them know that we don't want a kind of host like Willie, I think they will listen and have a 2nd tought of bringing Willie back to his show. Anyway, I guess Wowowee still got a high rating at the time when he's not there. If any of you can initiate a signature campaign to oust Willie, then I think we can at least voiced our opinion to ABS-CBN and to all the Filipinos around the world.

the video is highly recommended to be seen by all visitors to this site. it is very entertaining and the singer is very very good.
what a challenging life the singer had hile growing up. i grew up in the philippines, too, but had a much better life a hundred times. reading her bio made me realize how lucky i was. her voice is better than most of the top ten finalists in american idol which me and wife is always watching. the singer has a good singing style comparable to professional ones, also very charming, very lady-like, and with honesty emitting in her mannerisms and personality. a real pearl, which is her name, a real gem to her family. lucky husband! in all the songs she sang in the vedio, i liked the two 2008 songs because they were recorded professionally with excellent production.
in as much as most young singers and younger generation nowadays liked to sing and hear R&B, i recommend that pearl should also try singing soft or easy-listening R&B songs. personally, i wish that all pearl's dreams in life will come true. i wish her to be appreciated as a good singer - because she is really a good singer.

I beg to disagree with Boy and Kris. To Kris, your “utang na loob” to Freddie Augilar way back in the ‘80’s has got nothing to do with his senseless opinion. If you’ve got something to say that will enlighten his peanut-sized brain, then say it, it’s not your fault if he’s that narrow-minded!

Thank you very much, LovelySoul. The naysayers can eat their own words. It's just embarrasing that Filipinos relegated Charice to be a back-up dancer after her devastating loss from a local TV singing contest. Only after her jaw-dropping performances from Ellen & Oprah, she became an instant celebrity in the Philippines. Is there discrimination in the Philippines since Charice is from a poor family, no connections and does not have the looks (half white breed)?

The initial reaction is "how can such a voice come out of that body?", but they ain't seen nuthin' yet ...
- then she sneaks up on them as the song builds momentum, then she lets out this Mariah-Carey-like crescendo, just to give them a hint about what she can do. This brings down the house, and all this she does without breaking a sweat
- then Celine says "go girl!" and she belts out this soul-stirring aria, and people are cheering this young girl on as she sings her heart out
when the song ends, she is back to her shy sweet self.
