Charice sports new Tan Look by Jake Galvez
The following conversation between a Chaster and Charice's make up artist says it all. Chasters you be the judge..What do you think of Charice new tan look? Do you think Jake Galvez did a good job ? Should Charice hire a new make up artist or should Charice stay with Jake Galvez? Warning ! Please don't look further at Jake Galvez's other twitpics if you are not of legal age. Some of the content there are not suitable for younger viewers.

Charice | Note to God wrote:
Anyway, Charice’s new look has incited debates, and pros and cons from fans here and abroad. Jake has said people will be seeing more of Charice looking glam and that he’ll soon go to the US with the singer to do her album cover. To which a Chaster (ChariceManiac) retorted: “We don’t mind glam, it’s just your overdoing it… like it better with the first shoot in Face2Face.”

"If you dont like her anymore then follow miley cyrus instead " What an ass that Jake is. He sounds so rude. And yeah his other twitpic is very inappropriate to think that it is next to Charice's other photos

No, no, and NO. I don't think this guy is even qualified to be Working with Charice abroad. Charice needs to stick with her WB team. People are right. This guy is a jerk. Can't even take any constructive criticism. He's gonna make Charice the joke of Hollywood. Charice, hire a new stylist. If he's gonna act rude, why not reciprocate that same attitude back? I honestly think they do a wayyyyy better job here in the States. She needs to stick to her team here and not bring in any foreign employers. Her look isn't even age appropriate. She looks 25-30, not 17! Americans/Hollywood do it the best so stick to the States. To tell you the truth Charice, I didn't even really care for the look you had on Face 2 Face. Another look you had from the jerk. This guy is trying to make you look wayyy over your age and believe me, Jake Galvez, I have TONS of people who agree that Charice would be better off with her team in the States.
Reply to this
Totally agree. That was rude of this guy. He needs to learn what constructive criticism is. I for one don't even approve of this look as Charice's international look. ChariceManiacs is correct, it may work in the PI, but not in the States. I hope they really didn't hire this guy to do her album cover shoot. What a disappointment.

Jake thinks he's all that and a bag of chips. No one even knows him until he started working with Charice. That guy needs to learn the word humility.

I think Jake did a good job. She looks totally different but what do we all liked about Charice is her fantastic vocals, so whatever look she sports, she will still be well loved.

to all Fans of Charice: please join me and voicing our opinion that jake galvez is absolutely, positively, not the right makeup artist for Charice....Jake Galvez is a brand new, amateur unknown artist trying to make a name for himself and is jumping on Charice's rising fame to help him...its obvious that he knows very little about Charice and is more concerned with his own ambitions than for the benefit of Charice...one of the biggest reasons for Charice popularity is her innocence, her purity, her excellent character, her clean and friendly look...this "look" that Jake is trying to promote on Charice speaks the total opposite and makes Charice look too "hollywood fake", trashy, wild and undisciplined....trust me, if Charice takes that route, it will be very damaging to her....PLEASE VOTE NO ON JAKE GALVEZ AND LET HIM PRACTICE ON LOCAL FILIPINO STARS LIKE SARAH GERONIMO INSTEAD AND LETS SEE HOW SUCCESSFUL HE BECOMES...
TO jake galvez: if you are reading this, be fully warned that if I ever see or meet you in person and you act rude like the way this twitter conversation goes, i will knock you out of your misery and you will never be able to do any makeup on anyone ever again!!!!!!!I am not joking.....

PakiyowFan: TOTALLY agree with you. This guy is an amateur. I don't care who he's worked on/with. He obviously doesn't know how to market Charice. Just look at how she looks in the Philippines compared to when she does her work in the States. This will be somewhat of a downfall if Charice keeps this guy as her stylist. Charice: You have such an amazing voice, don't let someone ruin your image by making you look like "trash". Many of us liked how you looked when you weren't "orange" or "tan" as some are saying. You looked better when your Warner Bros. Team were working on you. I completely agree with PakiyowFan. NO TO JAKE GALVEZ. This look doesn't make you look mature & elegant, it makes you look trashy & old. Please Charice, don't make the mistake of having Jake Galvez as your stylist internationally. Just look at how he reacts to your fans. HE IS RUDE. You want somebody like tha representing you? AND THAT WAS TO A USUAL CHASTER! Just think what he says to those who are just fans or admirers. PakiyowFan, I join your threat. If I ever see this Jake Galvez guy & he acts rude, you can guarantee that I will beat the crap out of you. No joke, either.

This is embarrassing. I hope Jake knows that the sentiments above are not a representation of what ALL fans of Charice think. Some like her new look, some don't. You can't please everybody, right?
But did you guys just call Jake an amateur, a joke, an unknown? How much do you know about the industry in the Philippines for you to say those things? I personally have been hearing about Jake Galvez LONG before Face 2 Face, long before he did Charice's makeup-- and I'm not even into the local fashion industry!
Aren't you all acting like crabs yourself? Chasters are so quick to call other people crabs-- look at what you're doing to Jake. Isn't that crab mentality, too? You're all acting very much like the DA fan girls who didn't want Charice to sing with David because "she's not famous enough" or "she's not good enough for David." SOUNDS FAMILIAR, GUYS???
Yes, Jake was a bit rude... but who was rude first? Don't you think it's the guy who said Jake was overdoing it? Hello! Doing makeup is Jake's job; I don't think anyone will appreciate it if someone you totally don't know steps in in front of your face and tells you you're not doing your job right.
To Jake, I apologize for the negative things some fans have said to you. I hope you know they're not a representation of the entire Chaster community. To Charice's fans above (some of them)... I don't know what to say. All I know is you're doing a VERY good job of putting the rest of us fans (and possibly Charice) in a bad light.

While you might have a good point there, at least most Chasters are actually level headed and just don't rant on about how much they hate a person without backing up what they have to say. You're a disgrace Keds, because you have to grovel at this jerk's feet. Charice didn't do anything to provoke the DA Filipino crabs, but Jake Galvez did something to provoke us. You're pathetic for actually apologizing to him. You're just another pushover. For one thing, we have very valid reasons as to why he shouldn't even be Charice's stylist in the States. Just look at some of the past/present appearances Charice has had in the PI where Jake Galvez does her makeup. Now YouTube it or Google it and read what the comments are all about: ALL NEGATIVE. Well, most of it. Some say, "she looks like a clown", "too much makeup", "overdone" etc. What does that say to you? That means, he doesn't know how to do Charice right. If that's just the PI audience & present Chasters talking, just think when she's in the biggest spotlight once her album drops. So much criticism already and that's only when she's in the PI. You don't hear anything bad about the promotional pictures she has on her official site. That's because that was her WB team managing all of that. Again, we're not CRABS. How dare you even compare us to them. LOOK AT THAT CONVERSATION ABOVE. CharieManiacs was trying to be nice for the most part, yet this guy JAKE, thinks he's the best at what he does and tries to humiliate ChariceManiac. "STOP PLAYING STUPID" What kind of words is that for someone who works with Charice? You actually want people like THAT working for Charice? You're brainless. Honestly, a few might like her new look, but people don't like the MAKE UP & he's in charge of that. The so-called "expert". Charice looks better when she appears in the States. I'm with the majority here on ChariceMusic, she's better off with her WB team. No need for foreign employees coming in. Charice, I really hope you read this and realize how much people are opposed to this move, if in fact it is true. Please take this as a heartfelt concern & not trying to hate on others. It is merely about thinking the best interest for you. Thank you for listening.

Most of the newer comments on this page are well-written with valid points coming from both sides. My gripe in my earlier comment was NOT about Charice's new look, NOT about Jake, but about how SOME Chasters initially reacted to the makeup issue by basically dismissing the makeup artist's talent as non-existent, provoking others, MAKING VIOLENT THREATS ("I will beat the crap out of you") and calling other Chasters (me!) names such as "brainless", "pathetic", "a disgrace."
While I do not appreciate being called such, I do appreciate the substantial and thought-provoking new comments below this page. Just not the ones threatening bodily harm and spewing hatred and derogatory remarks on anyone with an opinion. I thought Chasters were beyond that.

i dont think its appropriate to tell jake galvez that "hes overdoing it" Its his job and he knows better. I like his style. Love those make ups..But he was kinda rude to charicemaniacs. He could have answer in a polite way. But anyway, chasters..WB team knows better. I think its not charice who hired jake galvez team to do her make-up in the US. I think WB also agreed to take them and do the make-up for the cover.. So chasters chill. We admire charice for who she is.. with or without make-up. Its her voice that counts. Leave the make-ups to jake galvez. Remember, we're just fans and our behind the scenes infos are limited. XoXo.

i like her eyes but i dont like the pink lipstick...hmmnnn...she looks so matured in this pic...this kind of pic doesn't suit her image ( sweet ). ....(just an honest opinion)..

People need to chill and stop making this a big issue. FYI Jake received tons of negative email/twit comments from chasters, i'd be frustrated too if i was in his shoes. One twit saying Jake's work and talent is "only for PI not in U.S." was omitted from the conversation above and thats the one that provoked a hostile conversation between the two. Jake has the talent but it all comes down to what WB wants. He's a professional make up artist and he knows he'll have to adjust to what his client (W
I also want to add, if Charice and her team is happy with Jake and his work then im ok with that too. They know whats best for Charice, who are we to decide we are just fans.

Just fans? Who buys the record album? Who goes to the concert? Who buys the magazine and look at the photos? Yeah we are just fans ! Do you honestly think record producer doesnt take the fans into consideration when they decide ? Look at how Charice treats her fans! That's why her fans love her more because she doesn't think we are just her fans!

I believe WE the fans have all the rights to a lot of decisions. Afterall, WE make up the majority of the album sales. It is the fans who buy the albums. It is the fans who promote the artist to others. It is the fans who keep the artist in business. So, I fully believe we, even though we may be "JUST FANS", have a lot of influence in decisions. After all, we are the sole source for the success of an artist. Just saying.....

antnoy: it is that exact thinking that surpressed many people from stopping so many massacres that have occurred in our history. ie. GENOCIDE. What the Nazis did to the Jews and so forth. It is that same exact thinking, "WHO ARE WE" & "WE'RE JUST". Of course the examples are much more serious than this present topic, but it just goes to show you the power of the people. Look at the Philippines' People Power Revolution. WHO WERE THEY TO REVOLT? Well, obviously they didn't have your mentality. We may be "JUST FANS", but we know what we like and her management team in the USA make her look like the Charice that people will fall in love with the way all Chasters do.

The opinions of her fans do matter. As long as we are CIVIL about it, I don't see a problem stating those opinions. Just be NICE. I felt that ChariceManiacs was cool and was trying to be diplomatic. Anyway, here's how I feel about Cha's new look: I HATE the new look. Naturally pretty eyes don't need a lot of makeup. I think that the natural beauty of her eyes have been hidden instead of being accentuated.

I loved all of Charice's wardrobe and hairstyle and facial looks in the U.S.whenever she's with David Foster.
Never liked most of her latter looks in the Philippines. Never liked her Tahoe/Tacoma/Great America hair. Never liked her face2face look. Never liked the ruffa show look. She looks OLD and lacks that glowing personality that got me smitten by this girl Charice in the first place.
Is Jake trying to do a Leona Lewis look? Honestly I don't like it. I'm almost beginning to become unChaddicted already. Charice you could still have us fans, but it will be half-hearted fans if the looks are not consistent.

Try to imagine Charice singing Note to God in Jake's make-up. Doesnt match up right? Try to imagine Charice singing her part in Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas in Jake's make-up. Something's not right.
Got this article from Yahoo Buzz (http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/musictoob/23244/susan-boyles-non-airbrushed-new-album-cover-revealed/)
Susan Boyle Sticks To Natural Look For New Album Cover
Posted Wed Oct 14, 2009 4:44pm PDT by Andy Pemberton in Musictoob
Susan Boyle's new album cover features the global superstar as you have seen her before--down-to-earth and natural.
Boyle's handlers are making sure that the "Hairy Angel's" appeal is not diluted by Hollywood gloss. On the cover of the 48-year-old's debut album I Dreamed A Dream, she appears in all her wrinkled glory.
Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden said: "She needs to stay exactly as she is because that's the reason we love her. She just looks like anybody who could live on your street.
"The minute we turn her into a glamourpuss is when it's spoilt. For now we'll keep her exactly as she is because that's why we've all fallen in love with her."

Look at Colby Caillat's album cover.
http://www.mybuffalo.com/_Colbie-Caillat-Breakthrough-Album-Cover/photo/5005597/85283.html
Colby is a sweet looking girl and I can't imagine her with a glam look. The cover makes you want to explore or buy the album. It looks like she's trying to tell me something. It says 'buy me,I have a lot of things to offer you' The glam look is kinda expressionless or lifeless. Charice's eyes are very expressive and to hide it all in makeup might not be a good idea.

There is nothing wrong with Jake's makeup - for Elle and Vogue magazine, that is. But Charice is not an Elite Agency or Cal Carries fashion model.
Charice IS A lovely sweet petite SINGER!
Her look on the Ruffa show was actually taken advantaged of by haters/crabs in non-Charice forums and comments sections. They used that look to make fun of her, using words like 'negra', 'brown monkey', etc. That look was used and made into a video specifically to mock her looks. You get it.
This might also be a gender issue and since women are into makeup and all that, are able to see the the merits of glam make-up. I'm a guy and I must say we see things differently. Let's say hypothetically I have a choice of courting between a simple sweet-looking Charice or a glam-looking Charice, I'd pick the simple-looking one anytime. I like straight hair too, although the TLUC curly hair was very well done too and I liked it very much. Something needs to be done. U.S. must oversee this issue.

I AM PROUD OF ALL/majority OF THE CHASTERS WHO SPOKE THEIR MIND HERE SO FAR. See? We were all civil. I guess the fans have spoken. Even though we're "just fans". This look is not keeping us. I agree with 'Manolo'. If this look is still being 'PI'ed (ie. fake looking), then I'm truly becoming unchaddicted. Although I'll still support Charice, there's no use in even checking thes sites. Charice, you have an amazing talent and you truly are a beautiful girl. Don't hide that natural look and the innocent girl we all fell in love with. I can wholeheartedly say that these looks given by Jake Galvez might be professional, but it's just not who we're used to. Yes, change can be good, but when it fits you. I'm sorry to say, these "new looks" just make you seem jaded & older than you appear. It doesn't make people smile & have their hearts filled with gladness. Instead, this new look makes people "think". Think as in, is she old enough to do that? Wasn't she lighter before? Why is she so dark now? Why does she have so much makeup on? Why isn't she smiling anymore? And so forth. Too many questions. When we all saw your pictures on your official site, we didn't have to think. It all made us smile. That amazing smile of yours made US (your fans) smile. No thinking, no asking questions. JUST SMILING. So, I say to you Charice, who are you and who do you want people to know you as? Sultry underaged Charice or Innocent & Fresh age appropriate Charice (which by the way we all fell in love with). Just my two cents.

HATE the new look. People are already making fun of her. With her pix on her CP website, nobody did that. She's barely new in the market, she doesn't need to be ridiculed by having a look like the pix above. I LOVE the old Charice from WB. Hope she reads these messages.

Nakuuu.. super korek ka! Masyado kasing open book ang buhay ni Charice from the very start eh. kaya feeling ng iba pwede nlg talaga silang makialam.. LImited lang ang alam natin sa behind the scenes at sa mga agreement nila. Hayaan na lang natin. And those haters na namimintas sa make up ni charice, dont mind them na lang. Kahit ano naman kasi ang gawin ni charice, pipintasan pa rin ng mga yan. Ang importante walang mintis pa rin ang boses ni charice, yun lang ang hindi nila kayang pintasan. Kung totoong chaster ka, may make up or wala..kulot or straight, may contact lens or wala at kahit sino pa ang nag make-up kay charice, FAN kapa rin. There is no such thing as HALF-HEARTED FAN. kasi kung fan ka, fan ka talaga. wala lang. opinyon lang. hehe.

first of all masyado namang pinu put down ni charicemaniacs ang kakayahan ni jake galvez kaya nagalit! dahil sa word na "pakikialam" dahil sa pakikialam nag-aaway tayo! ikaw ba naman pakialaman matutuwa ka ba? halimbawa nag take ka ng interior and design course nag graduate ka..nag arrange ka ng bahay. tapos pipintasan at sabihing hindi maganda o ang pangit. so anong magiging reaction mo? eh kung maganda sa paningin ng nagpaayos at hindi sayo. kaya wag naman underestimate ang kakayahan ng iba. si charicemaniacs kasi underestimate ang kakayahan ni jake. sya ang pakialamera! alam ko kung kayo naman pakialaman ng iba magagalit din kayo! sino ba di magalit? una..pina project ni jake na maging ganon looks ni cha tapos may kokontra..ikaw ba naman mag project ng arrangement at maganda sa paningin mo tapos kokontrahin ng iba..then ano naman feeling mo? so ang salitang "pakikialam" ay tungo sa pag-aaway! masyado kayong maepal! kayo na mag makeup. at kayo naman mag make up pipintasan ng iba at sabihing di maganda! walang katapusang pintas! sakit ng karamihan puro pintas at pakikialam! hayaan nyo na lang yan kay charice at jake...kung maganda sa paningin ni charice ang make up eh di respetuhin na lang natin ang desisyo ni CHARICE! hindi naman kayo nag ca carry ng make up eh! nakakainis nga lang walang understanding ang karamihan. analyze muna bago kayo mag comment! find the best solution to the problem na favorable sa judgment o may good judgment na hindi makakasakit sa damdamin ng iba!

I've tried to look at the point of view of both the makeup artist and CMs and both have valid reason to stte what when on that conversation in twitter.
Unfortunately for Jake, he went off as a cocky person just out to be a jumper in the charice fame bandwagon. Here are some points:
1. The shot is indeed Glamourous, only appropriate for Vogue, Elle etc. Fashion shoot. Why would he post it in Twitter if it isnt to call attention to his creation. Maybe to get attention from the USA management team.
2. Songs of the Sea gave us a clue that this isnt done true legal WB channels. Charice is a minor in US law and manipulation of this sort can be grounds for child exploitation if jake is constantly saying to charice..Common Charice...let them know I should be the one who will do your Makeup. When Charice's steps out of the Philippines and into the US she is bound by all US laws.
3. Its good bussiness for North Americans to listen to the pulse of thier fanbase..after all Charice is trying to break the ceiling in the USA not in the Philippines.
4. WB and Harpo calls the shots, remember that Kris said North Americans takes charge of the whole package. Ever heard of Kelly Clarkson's 3rd album? it recieved no fanfare cause she went against Sony BMG's total packaging. That's from a seasoned american artist a Grammy nominated and CMT Winner. Charice is brely beggining to make a dent in the US industry.
4. Charice was loved for her pure innocence look most of her fanbase can agree with that from SK all the way to Brazil. Drasticlly changing it as such and announcing it to the world without WB consent (through twitter) is already a violation of Privacy. Charice may not know this but laws are in affect in America for maliciously spreading "NEW LOOK" against what the WB is trying to promote her. Now that it happened in the Philippines is the only reprieved jake has at this moment since WB doesnt take care of her there.
5. reading from jakes tweets after the last conversation one can see his motive he wants recognition and to work with charice on her album cover here is the ss of the conversation about what he announced in twitter:
http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/2843/jakew.png
He was asked if he is really going to the US and answered...Not sure yet its really taking a long time...if ever it will only be days...
So he is hoping that Charice can convince the WB managment here. Well I have doubt that will ever happen but that's just me.
Again Kris said it herself:
North Americans takes control of the whole packaging.
Song of the Sea we are level headed. So your statement doesnt really affect us about "pakialemero" now you know how USA fans feels about it. Say hi to jake Galvez btw he is doing great work for this one...Charice looks like a 27+ and we have a lot of those already in the USA.

To Songs of the Sea:
First of all, your opinions are welcomed and respected...everyone here has a right to express their own opinions...I read all your comments and I understand what you are saying..but unfortunately, you are wrong...this is a comments section which means people are always free to express their opinions whether you agree or diagree...that is why freedom of speech is so well protected in the U.S. because it is so important for the welfare of a civilized society...so if you don't agree with others comments, then just say you don't agree..you don't have the right to tell people that they cannot express their opinions..plus, you really shouldn't worry or be affected by people's opinions...look at Charice, at first she was rejected by Philippine media..and even till now look at what Freddie Aguilar and other celebs have said about her? did Charice react negatively? No she handles everything with grace and dignity and doesn't complain and keeps working hard...because in the end, the truth always comes out on whether something is good or bad...so if Jake is really as good as you think, then people will recognize that and will support him...but I know one thing, this conversation on twitter reveals a lot about his character and he will have to prove a lot to overcome it...and its nobody's fault but his own...because in any professional level, you will always be subject to criticism and you must know how to handle it...so my question to you, Song of the Sea? can you handle it?

IF CHARICE WERE A CONSUMER GOOD/PRODUCT, PERHAPS MOST PEOPLE WON'T BUY IT. IT'S A MARKETING DISASTER AS THEY WOULD SAY. You don't have customers buying your product, you have product failure. The company could collapse. We the fans (and her future and potential fans)are the customers/buyers/consumers
Why do you think those products by Procter & Gamble and Unilever and other multinational companies are so successful? They researched what the consumers needed and wanted. They have an entire marketing team and PR machinery to do the work for the success of their product, IT DOES NOT HINGE ON A SINGLE PERSON.
To say 'let's leave it to Charice and Jake to decide' simply doesn't hold water and is irresponsible. It is like a mother leaving a child alone to play by a busy roadside filled with moving cars without supervision and expecting the child to come back unscathed later on in the day.
Think Josh Groban. Try to reverse roles. Imagine Josh is a lady singer, and then putting on all that heavy makeup on him(her).Yeewwww! I feel as if his heavenly voice might drown with his makeup.
The appropriate time will come for Charice to have all sorts of make-up to be done on her. We actually have a few years left of Charice in her teenage years, let's savor these years and let her simple look shine through.

Another thing. I saw pictures of Charice posted in the twitter page, and there was also a VERY VERY INDECENT AND INAPPROPRIATE PICTURE OF A NAKED MAN DOING AN INDECENT ACTION. Just what is this? I am aghast and very appalled! WTF! I don't know if the image is still there. Many saw this! It's like having pictures of your daughter in a photo album that includes crap 'bold'pictures. How idecent. The thing is, IT IS PUBLIC AND ANYONE AS YOUNG AS FIVE COULD VIEW IT.

I rarely write stuff online. I rarely bother to make comments in any blog or write comments in forums.
But this issue really left me with no choice. I had to force myself to write.
The truth is, if the makeup artist had initially been respectful and acknowledged the fans concerns, he would have earned praises and would have gained more fans for his professional work. Look at Freddie Aguilar, tons of people are still angry at him up to this day, and probably will be til they see the last light of day.
Sometimes pride is the hardest thing to hurdle for a lot of us. Follow the example of Charice. Be humble also.
Please don't make Charice's beautiful face a free palette for cosmetic experimentation. She is not a guinea pig. We really like the SUBTLE look.
In the Ruffa show where Charice sang the Tagalog song with her mom, was probably one of the finest sounding that I've heard in a long time. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT IF NOT FOR THE HAIR AND MAKEUP.

I agree w/ most of you; i don't like too much make-up on charice. Pls charice don't hire that guy or or else i will not be a fan of you anymore. I like your innocent look when you sang "note to god" in oprahs show; pls go back to that look.
